PEC Update, October 23, 2007 Dear PEC Supporters: This morning a Motion for Injunction was filed with the Lynchburg Court in an attempt to prevent the four R-MWC paintings from being sold until the related lawsuits are decided. Pleadings can be found on the PEC website here. The press release issued today about the filing of the injunction can be found here. We will let you know when a hearing date is scheduled. Art Defense Fund Between the Louise Jordan Smith intervention and the efforts to prevent the Bellows, Hicks, Hennings, and Tamayo from being auctioned off we have committed to substantial legal expenses to preserve these educational resources for Randolph-Macon Woman's College. We need your help - the first phase alone of these art defense proceedings costs approximately $130,000 (after discounts from the law firms and a capped fee agreement). So far we have received substantially less than half of that amount in donations for the art. Donations to the Art Defense Fund can be sent to: Preserve Educational Choice, Inc.P.O. Box 29612 Richmond, VA 23242 Please note on the check that it is for the "Art Defense Fund." PayPal donations can be made through our website -- you will receive an acknowledgment within 24 hours asking you to specify if your gift is for the general fund or the art fund. These monies are being kept completely separate from the general fund -our ability to pursue the art intervention and injunction efforts is dependent upon our ability to fund the work that must be done.
