Dear Board:

Preserve Educational Choice, Inc. (PEC), would like to re-extend our offer of October 14th to send representatives to discuss our document "20 Reasons Why You Should Change Your Vote" and the financial condition of the college. PEC had received indications from some members that the Board was considering asking us to appear, but we have received no formal request. Understanding that time is of the essence, and having received no formal invitation to discuss our position, PEC now renews its formal request for an audience before the end of the Board Meeting. Even though time is now short, we can have representatives available on Friday or Saturday, October 20-21.

We do understand that with litigation pending that having a meeting with PEC may cause you concern from the standpoint of lawsuits. Please know that PEC, as we have stated from the very beginning, tried very hard to refrain from filing lawsuits, and still would like to have the opportunity to convince you that Randolph-Macon Woman's College can be very successful as a woman's college.

Accordingly, PEC would be willing to make this presentation, either with lawyers for both sides present, or without, though we would prefer that it be without. In any event, PEC proposes that you agree to allow us to make this presentation under the same rules that govern litigation settlement negotiations, in that neither party would be allowed to bring up the fact of the meeting or be able to use statements made at the meeting as admissible evidence in any lawsuit. We are very interested in trying to show you that our college can remain a woman's college, through better marketing and financial management. That is our only goal. Please contact Ellen Reid Smith, Anne Yastremski or Diane Montgomery if you are willing to give us time to present our case to the full Board of Trustees.
